James "Jim" J. Kiefer

James "Jim" J. Kiefer James J. Kiefer, 72, New Franken, died Thursday morning, October 17, 2013 at home. He was born June 3, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa to the late Joseph and Marie (Powers) Kiefer. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era. On May 9, 1977, Jim married Susan C. Schafer in IL. He was principal of Luxemburg-Casco Elementary School from 1989 until Luxemburg-Casco Primary School opened, where he was principal until his retirement. Before moving to Wisconsin, Jim was principal of Loves Park Elementary School in Loves Park, IL. The students loved all his special ties. Jim was an incredible man who was always striving to be the best he could and inspire those around him to do the same. Survivors include his wife, Sue; two sons, Eric (Kezia) Kiefer, Nederland, CO, and Ryan (Molly) Kiefer, Red Wing, MN; two daughters, Keri (special friend Matt Geber) McCluskey, Centreville, VA, and Megan (Sean) Reid, Toms River, NJ; six grandchildren, Maya, Finnegan, Anna, James, John and Hadley; one brother, Robert (special friend Peggy McGinnis) Kiefer, Colleyville, TX; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Lyn (Gary) Liff, Williamsport, OH, Pam Schafer, Delray Beach, FL, Maureen (Peter) Carlson, Boynton Beach, FL; many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Maureen and Frank Schafer, one brother-in-law, Bud Schafer and one nephew Brian Liff. Friends may call at St. Louis Church, Dyckesville, N8726 County Line Road, Luxemburg, WI 54217, between 9:00 and 10:15 am, Saturday, October 26, 2013. Funeral 10:30 am at the church with Rev. John Van Deuren officiating and Pat Ratajczak assisting. Burial will be private.
