Obituary

Betty L. Hoes, 87, De Pere, formally of Luxemburg, died Sunday evening, Jan. 18, 2026, at Aurora BayCare Green Bay, after recent battles with health issues. She was born Feb. 3, 1938, in Three Lakes, WI to the late Earl C. and Viola M. (Eaton) Jenkins. The family lived in Sugar Camp, WI.

Betty was united in marriage to Elmer A. Hoes on June 8, 1974, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Rhinelander, WI. He preceded her in death on January 22, 2000. Throughout Betty's working life she cleaned for The Downtowner Motel, Krohns Cheese factory, Saint Paul Lutheran Church, and the Luxemburg Co-Op.

In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing, camping and being outdoors, but most of all, she loved spending time and visiting with her friends and family, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren; especially Rori, Sadie, Briana, Harper, Everleigh, and Leo. She also enjoyed her visits from therapy dogs; Jax and Sam, watching the Packers, and a good Friday night fish fry.

Betty was a long-standing member of Saint John Lutheran Church in Luxemburg after her late husband's passing. Before that she was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church in Montpelier. Betty was also a long standing member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Auxiliary.

Survivors include her two daughters, Catherine Olson, Green Bay; Cheryl (Russell) LaPlante, Green Bay; four step children, Karen (Jerry) Englebert, Seymour, John (MaryAnn) Hoes, Green Bay, Connie (Elizabeth)Hoes, California, Cathy (Mike Shrovnal) Weytens, Green Bay; one brother, Ivan (Darlene "Dolly") Jenkins, Tomahawk; eight grandchildren, Melinda (Dustin) Smith, Luxemburg, Amanda (Justin) Farley, Green Bay, Ryan (Amanda) LaPlante, Luxemburg, Lori (Mike) Peterson, Freedom, Bret (Lori) Englebert, Seymour, Amy (Dennis) Griesbach, Seymour, Sanya (Isaac) Bailee, Suamico, Randy John (Steph) Weytens, Tennessee; and many great-grandchildren. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Elmer Hoes; one infant daughter, Christine Olson; two brothers, Infant Dale Jenkins and Bernie Jenkins; sister, Violet (Fred) Bosquette; sister-in-law, Judith E. Jenkins; nephew, Scott Ivan Jenkins; and stepson, Kim Hoes.

The visitation for Betty will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at Saint John Lutheran Church, located at 700 Heritage Rd. Luxemburg, WI 54217. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Rev. Carl Brewer will be officiating. Immediately following the service everyone is invited to the burial at Nicolet Memorial Gardens, 2770 Bay Settlement Rd, Green Bay, WI 54311.
