Dolores Arlene Zellner, age 95, New Franken, passed Monday, December 15, 2025. She was born on September 25, 1930, to the late John and Pauline (DuChateau) Rollin. Dolores was raised on a farm, where she learned the value of hard work early in life, driving a team of horses, milking cows by hand, and preserving food through canning; skills she carried with pride throughout her life.
Her faith was central to her. Dolores was deeply involved in her parish, St. Kilian Catholic Church, where she played the organ, taught religious education, and founded the Parish Angels ministry, which continues today. She also enjoyed sewing and crafting, and her homemade ornaments proudly adorned her Christmas tree year after year. She made the best homemade bread-without a recipe, a treasured tradition that was lovingly fought over by her children and grandchildren and will forever be part of her legacy.
On April 26, 1950, Dolores married the love of her life, Leonard E. Zellner. They were the first couple married at St. Kilian following the church fire. Together, they celebrated 75 years of marriage and raised twelve children. They were known for their shared love of gardening and canning, and their constant companionship; rarely being seen apart. A familiar sight on the dance floor, Dolores and Leonard delighted many with their polka dancing and were well-known square dancers in the community.
Dolores is survived by eleven children: Carol (Don) Soquet and their children Jennie (Laurel), Brad (Jessie), and Brenda (Matt); Pat (Tom) Peer and their children Kate (Eric) and Michael (Jaclyn); Janet (Keith) Duquaine and their children Danielle (Jake) and Nicole; Leon (Sharon) Zellner; Galen (Teresa) Zellner and their children Jaime (Dave), Devin (Jared), and Dustin (Rachel); Mark (Barb) Zellner; Steve (SueAnn) Zellner and their children Stephanie (Travis), Samantha (Alex), and Sterlin; Drew (Marti) Zellner; Dolly (Dan) Willems and their children Jacob, Megan (Dave), and Ben; Jane (Kelvin) George and their children Ryan (David) and Kelsie (Alex); Chuck (Kelly) Zellner and their children Lilly, Mason, and Max. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. Also survived by her sister-in-law Vi Rollin and brother-in-law Russell Zellner as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her beloved son Paul, who passed in 1977, and whom she was surely welcomed with a big hug. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her siblings and their spouses, Arlene and August Eckert, Elizabeth and Ray Estel, Phyllis and Amos Retzlaff, Marvin Rollin, Beverly and Harvey Crevier; and her in-laws Elmer and Dora Zellner, Elsie and August Haen, Alvin and Eleanor Zellner, Albertine and Ray Paye, Clarence and Germaine Zellner, Loretta and Bernard LeRoy, Dick and Rosella Zellner, Cy and Donna Zellner, Betty and Raymond Vanden Plas, and Dorothy Zellner.
