Janice J. Delcore, 90, New Franken, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
She was born on Nov. 17, 1934, to the late Melvin I. & Viola M. (Lardinois) Vandevelde.
On March 31, 1951, she was united in marriage to Edwin N. Delcore. Together they raised four children and operated a small dairy farm. Janice did most of the milking while Edwin did the feeding. Then Mom would rush up to the house to get breakfast ready for Edwin, so he could go to work, back to the barn to do some cleaning, then up to the house to make breakfast for us kids before school. I guess that's where we learned about work ethic.
Janice was a sports fan, especially loved cheering for the Packers, Brewers, and Cubs. She and Edwin were Packer season ticket holders for many years. We heard stories of the Ice Bowl and how mom spent time in the bathroom trying to keep her feet warm. That's where the heaters were, no snowmobile suits back then. One of her fondest memories was going to Super Bowl XXXI in New Orleans to see Brett Farve and the Packers beat the New England Patriots for the title. She was a big Brett Farve fan. She enjoyed perch fishing, playing card games like Cuyoo and Sheephead. She loved going on gambling trips to the casinos with her friends and enjoyed going to Village Kitchen for breakfast. Janice is survived by her four children, Don (Debbie) Delcore, Dave Delcore (special friend Sandy Gillis), Donna (Louie) Ledvina, Dan (Laurie) Delcore; 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren; brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Charmaine (John) Martin, Delbert (friend Betty) Delcore, Ken (Pat) Delcore, Marjorie (Ken) Strebel and Sharon (Wayne) Depeau, Diane Vandevelde, Janice Vandevelde, and Mary Ann Vandevelde.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, parents Melvin and Viola Vandevelde; inlaws Fred and Mamie Delcore, an infant son, Dean; siblings Betty (Orville) Delveaux, Everitt (Ollie) Vandevelde, Ken Vandevelde, Myron Vandevelde, Muriel (Herman) Bader, Melvin Vandevelde Jr. and Jim Vandevelde.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday May 7, 2025, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Sugarbush from 9:00 - 10:45 AM. Funeral mass at 11:00. Entombment at Good Shepherd Mausoleum at 2:00 PM.
