Joseph Albert Theys, 89, of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 16, 2026. Joe was born on December 4, 1936, in Luxemburg, to the late Abraham J. Theys and Adele (Vandervest) Theys. He married the love of his life, Sylvia Jane Paye, February 2, 1955, at St. Louis Church, Dyckesville and together they built a life centered around hard work, faith, and family. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2001
Joe spent many years working at the SuperValu warehouse while also farming. During his time at SuperValu, he spent many of those years as a truck driver. He loved to share stories about his truck driving experiences. Later years, he worked at Evergreen Nursery in Sturgeon Bay. He was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family.
Joe had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed cutting wood, tending to his apple trees, and working in the garden behind his home. Above all, Joe cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He took great pride in following their lives and accomplishments and loved hearing about what they were doing.
Joe came from a large family and had twelve siblings. He was the proud father of six children, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by his five children Joanne Hegnet, Debbie Guilette, Denise (Dave) Campshure, Chris (Randy) Vincent, and Dennis (Sue) Theys. Also survived by one brother, Francis "Tootie" (Ruth) Theys.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia; his special friend of seventeen years, Pearl Pinchart; son, Kevin Theys; son-in-law, Allen Guilette; grandson, William Jr "Billy" Hegnet; grandson, Neal Vincent; and eleven siblings.
Joe will be remembered as a hardworking and loving man, devoted grandfather, and someone whose greatest joy in life was his family. His strength, kindness, and dedication to those he loved will live on in the many lives he touched.
Friends may call between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday March 22, 2026, at McMahon Funeral Home, Luxemburg. Closing rosary service at 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Peter Church, Lincoln. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Antonio Palaya officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.

The family would like to thank Unity Hospice for their care and compassion. Also heartfelt thanks to all of Joe's grandchildren who helped out so much during Dad's last days. Grandpa would have been incredibly proud of all of you.
