Joshua Layne Wallace, 48, of Luxemburg, Wisconsin, passed away on June 24, 2026. Born in West Salem, Wisconsin, he was the cherished son of Jennifer and Carl Wallace. Joshua pursued his passion for athletics and academics, earning his undergraduate degree in Marketing and Finance from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse before completing his Master’s of Science in Kinesiology and Sports Management at Southern Illinois University. Joshua was employed as a Principal Business Intelligence Consultant at Kantata, a California based software company.
Joshua's life was defined by leadership, mentorship, and an unwavering dedication to others. His love of coaching began on the track at UWL, where he competed and also formed lasting friendships that continued throughout his life. Coaching soccer became one of his greatest passions, but his greatest joy was always coaching his daughters and watching them grow both as athletes and young women. He was a devoted coach at every level, from collegiate athletes to the youngest children in Soccer Bugs, and poured countless hours into planning practices that helped every player build the skills and confidence to succeed.
For Joshua, sports was never just about winning. He believed the game was a way to teach teamwork, perseverance, accountability and respect, taking the time to know each player and encouraging them to reach their potential while having fun. His influence extended far beyond the game and will live on in the countless players, families, and fellow coaches whose lives he touched.
Joshua found his true home in Luxemburg where he created a life centered on the things he loved most. He especially enjoyed spending time in his workshop, a place where his love of woodworking, natural creativity, and analytical mind came together in every project.
Above all his achievements, Joshua was a devoted family man. He was a great husband, a wonderful father, and a loyal friend. Some of his happiest times were spent traveling with family, exploring new places, and creating a lifetime of beautiful memories on their many family trips.
After his pancreatic cancer diagnosis, Joshua faced life's challenges with remarkable strength, courage, and determination, inspiring those around him every step of the way.
He is survived by his parents, his loving wife, Sarah (Nimmer) Wallace; his two daughters, Aaliyah and Ember; his sister, Elonda Wallace and her husband Ande Harris, along with their children, Isabela and Axel; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gregory and Amanda Nimmer; and his sister-in-law, Rachel (Nimmer) Harrison and her husband Jacob Harrison, along with their children, Luella, Roland, and Edith.
Joshua was truly one of the very best, our family is heartbroken. His legacy will live on in the hearts of family, friends, and the countless athletes he inspired. Sarah and family extend their deepest appreciation to all those who have so generously donated, helped, and been their rock along this journey. The overwhelming support of family, friends, and this incredible community has not gone unnoticed.
A memorial service and celebration of Joshua's life will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Black Sheep Event Center, 3675 Algoma Rd. New Franken, WI 54229. Visitation will take place from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a time of sharing and service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. McMahon Funeral Home of Luxemburg is assisting the family. Online condolence messages may be shared at McMahonFH.com
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Joshua’s name to support causes close to his heart.
