Julie Ann Bertrand, 55, of Kewaunee, was called home on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
Though Julie fiercely faced challenges of living with MS for the past 10 years, she never allowed her diagnosis to define who she was. She was an avid lover of the outdoors, and you could often find her tending to her gardens, watching, or feeding her birds. Julie had a special love for animals, especially her dogs, Oliver, Leo, and Lucy.
When indoors, Julie was rarely sitting still. She enjoyed keeping busy with her many hobbies, whether diamond painting, creating something on her Cricut, or building a 3d model. Above all, one of Julie's proudest titles was being Grandma. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren, finding joy in seeing them each day and filling her home with laughter. She loved spoiling them and spending as much time with them as she possibly could. Family meant the world to Julie, and her love for them was evident in everything she did.
Julie was a positive presence in every room she entered. Her quirky sense of humor had a way of bringing laughter and smiles to those around her. She had a way of making people feel good simply by being herself. Our hearts are broken, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Julie is survived by her devoted husband of 36 years, Jeff; her children, Josh (Karlee) Bertrand of Sturgeon Bay, WI; Jacob (McKenzie) Bertrand of Kewaunee, WI; Jessica (Brady, significant other) Bertrand of Algoma, WI; and Jordan (Tracey, significant other); and her beloved grandchildren, Kadence, Zayda, Colton, Emelynn, Lynnleigh, Eli, Evolet, Ethan, Bella, Harper, Camryn, and Hazel.
She is further survived by her parents, Pam and Steve Swenson of Calumet, MI; her brother, John McGovern of Kewaunee, WI; her sisters Libby (Andrew) Fena of Duluth, MN, Katie McGovern of Kewaunee, WI, and Kelsey Swenson of Calumet, MI; and her mother-in-law, Joann Bertrand; furthermore, extended family, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Julie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Doug, and Lucielle Barret; her uncle, Robert (Bob) Barret; and her father-in-law, Charles Bertrand.
Julie's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the family, friends, and neighbors who have reached out, offered a helping hand, lent a listening ear, or even picked up an iced coffee along the way for a visit. Every gesture, big or small, has meant more than words can express.
A special thank-you to Pastor Brewer for your continued presence, guidance, and prayers. You have walked alongside our family through so many moments, challenges, and experiences. We truly cannot put into words how grateful we are for you.
A visitation will take place Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Luxemburg. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Carl Brewer officiating.
