Lary M. Stahl, 86, Luxemburg, died early Thursday morning September 19, 2024, unexpectedly at Bellin Hospital. He was born in Luxemburg on August 23, 1938, to the late Michael T. and Mayme V. (Wavrunek) Stahl. On February 11, 1961, he and Michele L. Umentum were married at Holy Trinity Church in Pine Grove. She preceded him in death on January 26, 2023.
Lary attended school at Luxemburg. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy with much of his time being spent on the USS Missouri. After he left the service, he worked at Fort Howard Paper Company. While working at Fort Howard, he bought his first dairy farm in Sugarbush where he started his family. When a farm became available in Tonet, Lary seized the opportunity to expand his farm where he lived the rest of his life. When his tractors weren't being utilized for fieldwork, they were used for tractor pulling, a passion and hobby which Lary was very competitive about.
Another great interest of Lary's was wrestling. He not only participated in the sport as a young man in high school but was also known as a very enthusiastic fan, following the Luxemburg Casco High School wrestlers to tournaments all over Wisconsin and other states. His love of wrestling was passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was even honored by the L-C Wrestling Club and given the fan of the year award.
His other great interest was the Packers. Lary became a season ticket holder to City Stadium (later named Lambeau Field) when it opened and rarely missed a game, even attending the world-famous Ice Bowl.
Lary was very outspoken and loved a good debate. He was quick to share his opinions about all things important to him wherever he went especially in the vein of politics. He was very community minded and loved to support local teams and organizations and was often spotted in his ranger attending local events. His mischievous smile and the sound of his ranger will be missed by those who loved him.
He is survived by his children Kathy Stahl, Robert and Denise (Davister) Stahl, Laurie and Joe Enderby, Tom and Kelly (Crossman) Stahl, Steve and Autumn (Senner) Stahl, Jennifer Stahl and Tony Della Cioppa, Rebecca Stahl and Quinton Farina, and Stephanie Stahl and Kyle Wyman, grandchildren; Steve and Dana (Bloedorn) Enderby, Jessica (Mike) Woulf, Eric and Angela (Ullmer) Enderby, Troy and Stephanie (Berceau) Enderby, Will Stahl, Sage Stahl, Tyler Crossman, Alexis Mocco and Sierra Stahl. He is also survived by his sister Bernadine Mathu and sisters-in-law Wendy (Weidner) Stahl, Chris Stahl, and Virginia Goebel; Brothers- and sisters-in-law: Clark Umentum, Sheri (Umentum) Wasberg, Robert Umentum, Linda (Umentum) DeGrave, Cindy, (Umentum) and Dan Beck, Greg and Mary (Shefchik) Umentum, as well as great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, and nieces.
