On August 16, 2023, Marie (Thayse) Tombal, age 91, jitterbugged her way through the gates of heaven into the arms of the Lord. Born on August 15, 1932, in Lincoln, WI. to the late Louis and Elizabeth (Thiry) Thayse, Marie spent most her childhood working on the family farm. Eventually, she left home to live and work at Koenig's in Lincoln. On September 6, 1950, Marie married Melvin Tombal at the St. Peter Church in Lincoln, WI. Together, they operated Mel's family farm for almost 20 years. She proudly worked at Green Bay Upholstery for over 12 years and eventually went on to be self-employed doing two of the things she loved the most, cleaning and sewing. Marie had many talents, passions and skills. She was gifted in the art of sewing. Through her sewing business she met and retained many loyal customers. Her home was a revolving door for countless people who sought out her meticulous sewing skills. Marie was an incredible cook and baker. Her meals were one way of showing her family and friends how much she loved them. Her homemade breaded perch, soups, cheesecake and tortes were second to none. Marie's cleaning skills were something to admire. She was a perfectionist and took great pride in her abilities to make any home fresh and spotless by the time she was finished working her magic. Marie had the greenest of thumbs and could make even the most hopeless plants bounce back to life. Together, Marie and Mel worked hard to build a beautiful life where they enjoyed traveling, playing cards with dear friends and gardening. More than anything they loved spending quality time with their daughters, and their families. Mel and Marie were the most graceful dancing duo. Those that had the privilege of watching them do the jitterbug, found it to be an incredible sight to behold. At the time of Mel's passing, they had been married for 62 years. Marie was a doting and loving grandmother. From spending time sweetly rocking her grand babies to sleep to later patiently teaching them how to cook, bake or sew, she loved every moment she got to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought her tremendous joy. Marie is survived by her two beloved daughters: Margie Kitzinger and Cindy Ducat; grandchildren: John (Amy) Kitzinger, Jennifer (Shane) Buhr, Sue Degenaer, Sara (Keith) Paplham, Dana Ducat (Brett Mader), Chelsea Ducat (Kevin Ekvall); great-grandchildren: Olivia Kitzinger; Elizabeth (Han) Wang, Bo, Alex and Sam Buhr; Ashyrr, Rykyrr and Solyrr Degenaer; Skye Robertson-Kitzinger, Emery and Jaxson Paplham; Lauryn and Dominic Miller; Ross and Mylissa Ducat; great great grandchild: Josephine Wang; brother and sister-in-law: Gary (Sharon) Thayse; sister-in-law: Jean Thayse; former son-in-law: Dave Ducat and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
