Michael Joseph Zellner Jr., 62, of Luxemburg passed away peacefully following complications of a stroke on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on March 13, 1963, to Michael C. and Cecelia M. (DeGrand) Zellner. Mike was a dedicated farmer, loving family member, and a loyal friend. Mike spent his life working on the land he cherished and caring deeply for the people around him.
Mike was raised in Luxemburg and grew up with a passion for farming that would shape his life. For his entire life he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and community, always with dirt on his hands, a hat on his head, and a heart full of generosity.
He married the love of his life Sherry A. Schott on May 12, 1984, at St. Kilian Church in New Franken, Wi. Together they created a beautiful family with their four children and four grandchildren. His love for his family was lived in every aspect of his life.
Mike loved to spend time with his kids, grandchildren, and his two great nephews. He also loved to play in card tournaments, pool leagues, watch auto racing and helping at the local racetrack. He loved to plant whether it was by the acre or in his garden in the back yard. He also had a great passion for raising and caring for animals. Whether it be cats, chickens, cattle, or hogs he had great love and passion for them!
He is survived by his wife Sherry, his children Mindy (special friend Steve) Cerniglia, Michael (special friend Allie) Zellner, Aaron (Ashley) Zellner; four grandchildren Theodore, Oaklyn, Evalynn, and Reed; seven siblings Marilyn (Craig) Denil, John (friend Pat) Zellner, Jeanette (Robert) DuBois, Joe (Cheryl) Zellner, Joan Broekman, Molly (Mark) Derricks, Dave (Brenda) Zellner; brothers in law and sisters in law, Linda (Dave) Bisick, Sandy (Tom) Rentmeester, Gary (Cheryl) Schott, Ellie (Jorge) Solenos; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Amanda Zellner; three grandchildren the twins and Anthony Cerniglia; his parents Michael and Cecelia Zellner; his father in law and mother in law Marcel and Eleanor Schott; sisters in law and brothers in laws Johneen Zellner, Richard "Zeke" Broekman, Jean Clark, Paul Schott; and his niece Emily DuBois. His family and friends will miss his wisdom, quiet strength and his witty sense of humor. Whether in the garden, at the table, or on the farm sharing stories, Mike left a mark on everyone he met. Mike's boots may be empty, but his legacy will live on in the rows he planted and the lives he touched.
