Obituary

Ronald J. Conard, age 82 of New Franken died unexpectedly on Friday morning, October 16, 2026, with his family by his side.

He was born on April 21, 1944, to the late Harvey and Gladys (Delcore) Conard. On November 16, 1963, Ron married the love of his life, Suzanne M. Phillips at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church of Gorcum, and together they raised three sons. They were one month shy of 63 years of marriage! He farmed in the Town of Scott and continued to work on the farm his entire life, driving combine just last month.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Ron especially enjoyed fishing with his sons and grandkids up north at the cabin, on Lake Michigan, and ice fishing on the Bay. He was a lifelong fan of Wisconsin sports teams and loved cheering on his grandkids, whether they were on the field, at the diamond, on the court, on the course, or in the bowling alley. On Sundays, you could find him cheering on the Packers from his seat in Row 11 at Lambeau Field, a seat he’d held since he was young. And yes, Ron was there for the Ice Bowl! He also treasured his Thursday morning breakfast gatherings with the “Old Farts”.

Survivors include his wife Sue; three sons Paul (Barb) of New Franken, and their children: Cody (Lisa), Kaitlyn (Scott) Johnson, and Chelsea (Matt) Zellner; Brian (Barb) of New Franken, and their children: Emily (fiancé Eric), and Betsy; Mike (Becky) of New Franken, and their children: Anna (Zach) Reimus, and William. Great-grandchildren: Elliot, Evelyn, Cole, Chase, Carter, Bailey, Myla, Gabriel, Lenora.

Further survived by his brother Gary (Helen) Conard of New Franken, and Pat Dorner (special friend Jeff) of Pembine. In-laws: Ron (Carol) Phillips of Denmark, Dan (Linda) Phillips of Brussels, Janice (special friend Bob Volm) Basten, Diane (Dave) Dimmer, Al (Mary Ellen) Phillips, all from Green Bay. Many special nieces and nephews.

Ron was proceeded in death by his parents Harvey and Gladys Conard, stepdad Richard Conard, Sue’s parents, Richard and Helen Phillips, brother-in-law Don Basten, Craig Basten, and Lisa Brandt (Phillips).

Thank you to the first responders of the New Franken Fire Department, the staff on 6th Floor ICU at St. Vincent Hospital, and Unity Hospice.

Friends may call 3:00 to 6:30pm on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at St. Joseph Church, Champion. Closing parish prayer service 6:30pm. Visitation will continue between 9:00 and 10:45am on Friday, October 23, 2026, at St. Joseph Church, Champion. Funeral 11:00am at the church with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating.
