Obituary

Vivian G. Derenne, 83, of Luxemburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, following an 18-year battle with cancer. She was born in Sugar Bush on February 24, 1943, to the late George J. and Dorothy T. (Spangler) Everard. On May 4, 1963, she married Dale J. Derenne at St. Hubert Church, Sugar Bush. He preceded her in death, March 12, 2016. Vivian was a Christian Mother with St. Mary Church in Luxemburg. During her full-time career she was a paralegal abstractor with Miller, Pies, Blazkovec and Evans in Algoma, then a licensed agent with VanDrisse Insurance in Luxemburg. After retiring she worked at Ron’s Cheese in Luxemburg then at Hillside Apples in Casco. Vivian enjoyed playing cards with her beloved long-time card club friends whom she considered family. Among many talents, Vivian was a master of knitting, crocheting and quilting. Her hand stitched quilts were made with love and cherished by countless family members and friends. As part of the Champion Quilting Club she created beautiful quilt tops that were used for a plethora of donated quilts. Vivian was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many.

Survivors include her three children, Julie (Chris) Higgins, Green Bay; Don (Annette) Derenne, Luxemburg; Deanna “DeeDee” Derenne and husband Jerry North, Luxemburg; four grandchildren, Cole (Christa) Nenahlo; Tara (Brad) Lind, Sgt. Hunter (Nicole) Derenne and Spencer Derenne; great-grandchildren, Fletcher Nenahlo, Skylar Derenne and Avery Lind; brother, Richard Everard, Green Bay; Eileen Mach, Green Bay and Lois Smith, Denver; brothers in law, Rolland Derenne, Alan (Jeanette) Derenne, Robert (Nancy) Derenne, Chris (Barb) Derenne, Lee “Augie” (Lois) Derenne, Paul (Joan) Derenne; sisters in law, Jane Derenne, Lois (Pat) Phillips, Donna (John) Needham, Sue (Lee) Neumeier, Ruth Daavetilla, Joann (Ray) Krueger and numerous nieces and nephews.

Vivian was preceded in death by her soulmate and husband, Dale Derenne, her parents George and Dorothy Everard; one step grandson, Jase Higgins; her sisters Muriel (Damian) VandenBusch and Kathleen (Dan) Berg, Kerry Smith, Gary Mach; one sister in law, Barbara Everard; along with one brother in law; her mother in law and father in law, Anna and Joseph Derenne; special angel, Paige.

Friends may call at St. Mary Church, 1412 Main Street, Luxemburg, 8:30-10:45 am Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Funeral at 11:00 am with the Very Rev. Daniel Schuster officiating. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Luxemburg.

Vivian was a symbol of strength and an inspiration to all. She wants family and friends to remember all the happy memories, enjoy the warmth of her quilts and to celebrate her life.
